NEW Bat Low Impact Class Licence to reduce delays and costs (June 2015)

NEW Bat Low Impact Class Licence to reduce delays and costs

Dr Jeff Kirby of Just Ecology is one of only a few Approved Consultants in the country to be able to apply this new licence, launched 1st April 2015.  It can be used for small numbers of common bat species and roost types / situations of low conservation significance.  Advantages over a conventional licence include

-          A relatively simple application procedure, with less documentation and thus lower cost.

-          A 10 day response time for applications rather than 30 days plus.

-          No expectation that there will be extensive bat compensation, or bat monitoring post development.

-          No need for a detailed Reasoned Statement (the legal assessment).

-          Earlier access to site and start of works.
